Duties

The appointed staff is required to work in the following areas:

  • Maintain and monitor network infrastructure and connections, manage network management systems and log servers, and take immediate recovery actions when network connections fail. This involves reconfiguring settings on routers, switches, VPN tunnels, firewalls, SSLVPN and authentication appliances, and other network components
  • Provide technical details and departmental liaison to the relevant parties for configuring GCIS firewall rules, CRPS, load balancers, Cloudflare, and other related components
  • Provide client support, departmental liaison and technical assistance for departmental IT system and services including e-Leave, e-Form, iAM Smart, SOA-WiFi, MiFare systems, Knox/Soti MDMs, FPS, Spatial/Open Data, GTSA, Facebook/Instagram, WCAG, ISCCA, CSP, GNET, GCIS, GCN, CMS, IAS, IMX, etc.
  • Maintain the smooth operation, and manage patch and firmware updates for system servers (both on-premises and hosted in GCIS), hypervisors, SAN Storage, VTL, SAN switches, network storage and appliances, departmental portals, network equipment and peripherals. Monitor and evaluate security alerts, assess potential impact, conduct trial run in staging environments, manage backups and updates, etc.
  • Act as the Technical Lead for projects/tasks and work pro-actively with department users and out-sourced contractors to ensure successful project delivery. Duties include collecting user requirement, preparing procurement specifications and evaluation report, performing product evaluations, providing technical advice, reviewing contractor deliverables, monitoring contractor progress and work quality, resolving conflicts and following up on all project-related matters. Types of projects include, but not limited to SRAA and PIAA, CMMP, GovHRMS, New_OSDP II Upgrade, Hypervisor Platform and NAS Migration, Departmental Network Upgrade, Windows 11 Upgrade, and Implementation of EDR/NDR solutions, etc.
  • Implement safeguards to address security findings, manage vendors to apply the appropriate security measures and workarounds, and update Security Compliance Status and Compliance Audit Follow-up Status
  • Carry out other IT-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree / Higher Diploma holder in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
  • At least 4 years of relevant post-qualification working experience
  • At least 1 year of working experience as a Systems Analyst
  • Extensive experience in network and router configuration (e.g. Cisco, H3C, Ruijie, FortiNet, Sonicwall, and/or Huawei) is required
  • Experience in providing support for Windows AD, VMware/Hyper-V/KVM, Standalone CA, log servers, phpBB, Apache/IIS, Web Portal, MS System Center, UPS network shutdown, Departmental Portal, CISCO IOS Software, Network & System Management (e.g. Cisco Prime Infrastructure), Public Key Infrastructure, Virtual LAN/LAN Switching, and/or network printing is required
  • Experience with HCL Domino, CMSG/MCMS, CERKS, MEMCM (SCCM), SEPM for security policy deployment, OpenSSL, System Backup Operation (e.g. VTL), e-Leave, Internet Firewall (e.g. Sonicwall, Fortinet), Authentication Server (e.g. Sonicwall SMA), Remote Access Server (RAS), SAN Storage, and/or data center site preparation is preferred
  • Knowledge in IT security principles and management is required
  • Familiar with government IT policies and guidelines, in particular in IT security (e.g. Baseline IT Security Policy (S17), IT Security Guidelines (G3), SRAA, PIA) is preferred
  • Familiar with government IT procurement such as Network/Server/PC Bulk Contract, SOA-QPS Service Bulk Contract, and SPR is preferred. Experience in preparing WAB for procurement of hardware/software/IT services is preferred
  • Experience in computer project life cycle is preferred. Able to solve technical problems proactively, optimize system administration tasks, keep system documents updated, etc.
  • Certifications in the following areas are preferred:
    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
    • Cisco Certified Network Professional
  • Other requirements
    • Required to work in headquarters and other branch offices, when necessary
    • Self-motivated, independent, diligent, polite, patient, pro-active, fast-learning, good team player
    • Good communication and customer service skill
    • Good command of written & spoken English and Chinese
    • Overtime and on-call support outside office hour are required, when necessary
    • Work on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are required, when necessary
  • The job requires the following mandatory skills:
    • 5 years x  Microsoft Active Directory Administration, CISCO IOS Software & CISCO  Products, Departmental Portal and Work experience with/in the Government
    • 4 years x  Network & System Management, Router Configuration and Server  Virtualisation Technology
    • 2 years x  IT Security, Public Key Infrastructure and Virtual LAN/LAN Switching
